The Value of Critical Thinking 

        Critical thinking is utmost important in human life. If you ask any group of professors, employers, parents or politicians, "What is the most important outcome of an education?" The most common answer may be, "the development of the ability to think critically." Such an outcome would include good career choices, effective decisions in the work place, wise investment, and so forth. In the long run, critical thinkers would have more desirable outcomes than these people who are not skilled in the critical thinking. Critical thinking is purposeful, reasoned, goal-directed thinking that involves solving problem,formulating inferences,working with probabilities and making carefully thought-out decisions.It provides a way to improve ways of living .It matters a lot in our life. The value of critical thinking is evident from the following points.

 1.Avoidance from Deception

                                                          

 Critical thinking helps us to avoid deception,monitor pretension,evasion and other errors .Such things creep accidentally or intentionally in human message exchange and create misunderstanding.Next,such misunderstanding shakes mutual confidence and brings complications in human relations. It critical thinking that makes our conversation clear and meaningful.

                                                        

    2.Improving the Quality of Thoughts 

    Critical thinking is not merely cold and calculated approach to life. It enhances the quality of life by improving the level of thought. It makes the ways of life right-channeled. It helps us to revisit old- fashioned and less-productive methods and procedures of doing things. It challenges usual practices and blind routines to life. It brings sharpness and exactness in our working. In this way, it leads to problem-solving. 

3. Devising Reasonable standards  

                         

    It is critical thinking that helps us to devise and establish working standards. Such standards are applied to evaluate the worth of our claims, ideas and actions. It will be impossible for us to determine the credibility of our judgments in the absence of such standards. We can evaluate the value of our claims and ideas more formally by applying a fairly well-conceived system of logic. Sometimes, such standards are named as criteria.

   4. Confirmation of Claims

              

   In society, different people like politicians, health nutritions, dealers, shop keepers, manufacturers and many others make different claims about their products and services. Critical thinking helps us to evaluate such claims fairly. Media adds, dentists' preference for a particular brand of toothpaste and sex appeal in choosing a fruit juice do not lose our senses.

           Critical thinkers don't believe others' claims blindly. They raise logical questions and don't get trapped. They don't become answer less about others' hollow claims. Others' bluffing doesn't seem to work. In a logical society, fallacies and deceptions are rare.

 5. Addressing Controversial Issues 

             

   Critical thinking helps to have sound and justified opinion about controversial and debating issues. Such issues may include capital punishment, mercy killing, love marriage, abortion, homo sex, cloning, organ-granting and others of this sort. Critical thinking helps to anticipate the side-effects and after-effects of certain decisions in this regard. It enhances the vigilance to address about above mentioned controversial issues. Critical thinking helps to narrow down and focus on these issues to have unanimously accepted opinion. 

6. Addressing Common Problems 

           

  Critical thinking is a useful tool to incubate and devise working strategies to deal with common problems like poverty, terrorism, dogmatism, extremism and political instability etc. It helps to bring forth logical solutions to such problems. It helps to adopt a right approach and take right decision to improve our living standard.

     7. Improving Students' Performance 

   We live in an age of tremendous information that changes rapidly. Students must move beyond factual inputs to the processes involved in higher-level thinking, if they want to be successful in their life. They will have to engage themselves in critical thinking, problem- solving, decision-making, experimental inquiry and investigation. There is need to move our students from blind following to critical inquiry. The only tonic is critical thinking. Critical thinking helps students to:

      . become broad and adventurous thinkers.                     

      . generate innovative solutions. 

       . use their reasoning to analyze and evaluate. 

       . plan and think strategically.

       . re-evaluate their own views and ideas.

        . reflect on people's assumptions, beliefs and behaviors, taking into account a range of factors. 

        . generate alternative solutions and accept or reject them in a sensitive manner. 

        • take responsibility for analyzing and evaluating information.
